Uniformed Protective Services

The UK’s Public Services sector is one of the largest employers in the country. It works to develop and implement government policies and helps deliver a huge range of services. This is a physically demanding course that is designed to examine careers in the uniformed services.

The course is designed to provide specialist work related qualifications that will help you develop the knowledge, understanding and skills needed to prepare for employment in the Public Services e.g. Police, Fire Service, Security, Prison Services or the Armed Forces. Through a wide range of activities the course will also develop and support leadership, management and team-building skills, vital for working in the modern dynamic world of employment.

You will study a variety of areas including:

  • Citizenship and Diversity (Pearson-set)
  • Behaviour and Discipline in the Uniformed Protective Services
  • Global Affairs, the Media and the Uniformed Protective Services
  • Physical Preparation, Health and Wellbeing
  • Planning for and Responding to Emergency Incidents
  • Skills for Outdoor Activities and the Uniformed Protective Services
  • Developing Personal Fitness Programmes
  • Introduction to Criminology
  • Police Powers and the Law

In addition, there may be a number of residential visits, trips and expeditions throughout the course, as well as the opportunity to gain additional qualifications and Practical Leadership skills.

Many of our students progress on to Higher Education to study Criminology and related topics, such as Law, Sports Science and range of Teaching degrees. Whilst others have pursued careers with HM Revenue & Customs and joined the services.

Extended Diploma - 5 GCSEs at grade 9-4 including BOTH English and maths.
Diploma - 4 GCSEs at grade 9-4 including English OR Maths.

OR

Level 2 Public Services gaining a merit portfolio grade plus GCSE 4 or above in English or maths or equivalent level 2and GCSE grade 3 or level 1 in the other
