Criminal Justice

This criminology course prepares you for entry into higher education to study for a range of professions including the police, youth offending services, prison service, probationary service, victim and offender support services.

Our experienced teaching staff are passionate about their areas of expertise and are committed to helping you to attain your learning goals and meet your personal aims. You will be supported through the UCAS application process and overall be prepared for study at higher education.

You’ll gain theoretical knowledge and learn to understand crime in the context of its culture, as well as the criminal justice system. You’ll get a foundation in the psychology of crime, and enhance your studies by exploring the theories of offending behaviour and responses to crime.

With further education and training, successful completion of this Access to Higher Education programme can open up routes to careers in:

• Police Officer/Police Community Support Officer (PCSO)

• Criminal Intelligence Analyst/Major Crime Team Investigator

• Scenes of Crime Officer/Crime Analyst

• HM Revenue and Customs

You must have GCSE English Language at grade C or above before you can enrol on the course starting in September.

It is also advisable to complete Maths GCSE during the academic year prior to entering university if you don't already have it. You must apply on a separate part-time application form for a GCSE course.
