Achievement Rates - 2022

A Level
For our A Level provision, we secured a 98.6% pass rate in 2022 across our subject areas, with almost 60% of students achieving high-grades (A*-B). 14 of our 17 A Level courses achieved a 100% pass rate including Art & Design, Biology, Business Studies, Chemistry, Computing, English Language, English Literature, Further Mathematics, Geography, History, Mathematics, Media Studies, Photography and Physics.

Vocational
Our Vocational students also achieved a 96.3% pass rate in 2022 across our subject areas, with more than 66% of students securing a Distinction. Eight of our 12 vocational programmes also achieved a 100% pass rate.

2022 Student Survey Success for the Heart of Yorkshire Education Group

In 2022, the Heart of Yorkshire Education Group placed in the top three Higher Education organisations in Yorkshire for Overall Student Satisfaction, according to the latest National Student Survey (NSS) results.

Students from both Selby College and Wakefield College, which form the Heart of Yorkshire Education Group, claimed they were satisfied with the quality of their degree-level course – resulting in the Group achieving a score of 90% for Overall Student Satisfaction.

This places the Group significantly above its designated benchmark of 77%, securing it third place in the rankings within Yorkshire.

In the 2021 National Student Survey, Selby College ranked in the top two Higher Education organisations in Yorkshire for Overall Student Satisfaction. More than 86% of Selby College’s students claimed they were satisfied with the quality of their degree-level course, well above the national average of 82%.

This secured the College second place in the rankings within Yorkshire, alongside 11 other Further Education colleges in the county.

Latest Achievement Rates - 2021

Outstanding grades were achieved across the College’s subject areas including Art, Design & Media, Business and Law, Geography, History, ICT and Computing, Languages, Mathematics, Psychology, Science, Sociology and Sport in 2021. Many of our students have secured places at some of the UK’s top universities and on to prosperous careers.

For our A Level provision, we secured a 99.6% pass rate in 2021.

Our Vocational students also achieved a 99% pass rate in 2021.

2020: Selby College Ranks in Top 5 in Yorkshire for Degree-Level Satisfaction

National Student Survey (NSS) results have revealed that Selby College is amongst the top five higher education institutions in Yorkshire for Overall Student Satisfaction, achieving a score of 86%, above the national average of 82%.

Selby College also achieved 90% satisfaction in regards to teaching of its Higher Education courses.

The College ranked in the top five in Yorkshire alongside four other Colleges, highlighting the significant benefit of carrying out degree-level study within a College environment. At Selby College, students are able to study in a local, friendly and supportive environment and have smaller class sizes than a traditional university, which ensures they have enough time with their lecturers and the support they need to progress.

A Levels

For our A Level provisioning, we achieved a 100% pass rate across all subjects. The College has focused significantly on driving up progress and challenging students to aspire higher.

Outstanding grades were achieved across the College’s A Level subject areas, including Art, Design & Media, Business and Law, Geography, History, ICT and Computing, Languages, Mathematics, Psychology, Science, Sociology and Sport.

Vocational

Our Vocational students also achieved a 100% pass rate in 2020, with 13 students achieving Triple Distinction* grades.

This is across the College's 13 vocational subjects, which include Art, Design & Media, Business, Childcare & Health Studies, Construction, Engineering, Hairdressing & Beauty Therapy, Hospitality & Catering, ICT & Computing, Foundation Learning, Public Services, Science, Sports and Travel & Tourism.

2019: ‘Best in Yorkshire’ for Overall Student Satisfaction

Selby College’s Higher Education and Degree-level provision was named the ‘Best in Yorkshire’ for Overall Student Satisfaction in the National Student Survey (NSS) results.

Overall Student Satisfaction came out at 93% for all programmes, which is significantly above the national average of 86%. This was for all two-year or more full-time equivalent Final Year students.

The National Student Survey is a survey of all final-year undergraduate students at publicly funded universities and colleges across the UK and gathers students' opinions on the quality of their courses. The 2019 survey was completed by more than 330,000 students from 403 universities, colleges and alternative providers across the UK.
