Performing and Production Arts (Acting)

The Performing and Production Arts (Acting) programme is for students who wish to study in a lively and challenging environment. As Acting students, you will have the opportunity to explore, develop and test your creativity within a qualification structure which is stimulating, demanding and provides a supportive transition into higher level study or employment in the performing arts industry. There will be a wide range of opportunities for you to perform in our mechanics theatre at our Wakefield site, alongside chances to attend professional performances in both regional and national venues. You will be taught by industry experienced tutors alongside visiting professionals working within the industry.

This course is a practical, work-related course with academic and theoretical exploration throughout. You will develop through completing assignments and projects based on the realistic industrial activities and demands of acting. You’ll have the opportunity to show your work in a number of public performances and will also get the chance to perform in the performing arts festival at Selby College.

Courses are subject to a sufficient class size.

If you complete the course with an appropriate pass grade with maths and English you can progress through the levels.

HND Theatre, offered by Wakefield College, or degrees in acting, drama, theatre arts or performing arts at other Universities. Vocational courses at drama schools.

4 GCSEs at Grade 9-4, including English or Maths
OR
4 GCSEs at Grade 9-4 and Level 2 in either English or Maths
OR
Successful completion of Level 2 or equivalent at Merit grade, plus GCSE English or Maths at grade 4 or Level 2 English or maths

PLUS
Satisfactory interview/audition

You will be assessed through performances, practical and theoretical project-based work.
