Group shortlisted for three Yorkshire Learning Provider Awards

Thursday 11 January 2024

The Heart of Yorkshire Education Group is delighted to announce it has been shortlisted for a number of accolades at the Yorkshire Learning Provider Awards – demonstrating its commitment to meet skills gaps across the region.

The Group has been named a finalist for the Award for the Best Adult Education Delivery, which recognises its ability to understand local skills needs and reach areas where education is not always accessible.

Acknowledging its innovative Apprenticeship offer, the Group has also been named a finalist for the Best Apprenticeship Delivery Award which celebrates a training provider who puts the needs of its apprentices and the labour market first.

Engaging with more than 1300 employers across the region and nation, the Group works collaboratively with organisations to develop its curriculum offer which is responsive to the needs of the future workforce.

This collaborative working and drive to meet local skills needs is what instigated the Group to launch a Skills Bootcamp in the Principles of Carbon Capture and Storage, which has also been recognised by the Yorkshire Learning Provider Awards.

The accolade recognises the provider who has shown an ability to progress individuals into employment through innovative and flexible programme delivery, with many learners upskilling in their roles at companies such as Drax and Enfinium.

Being shortlisted for three Yorkshire Learning Provider Awards has come at a momentous time for the Group, as we’ve recently been rated ‘Strong’ by Ofsted for our contribution to meeting skills needs in the region and beyond. The partnerships we have with employers and local authorities are vital to ensuring we deliver a responsive curriculum offer which helps to close skills gaps and ensures our learners can progress into prosperous careers. Our Adult Learning programmes also enable learners to access education flexibly and alongside other commitments, ensuring that they can upskill or retrain at any stage of their lives - something we’re incredibly proud of.

This comes as the Group has launched a range of Adult Learning programmes in January 2024, including Essential and Advanced Digital Skills and Cyber Skills courses, English for Speakers of other Languages (ESOL), Dog Grooming, DIY Skills, innovative Engineering courses, Counselling and more.

The counselling skills I've learnt and everything that surrounds them are priceless to me and my development. I have now progressed to a Level 4 Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy at the University Centre at the Heart of Yorkshire Education Group which I’m carrying out on a part-time basis whilst practising as a qualified Counsellor full-time.
