Get SET – Employment Focused Study Programme

The Get SET programme is a work-based learning programme for young people who have had high levels of academic support in school or College. The course focusses on developing independence and employability skills through work experience opportunities.

You will be working with local employers or community groups, and you will be fully supported by a Job Coach. The course will prepare you for employment, supported employment, volunteering or a training programme such as Project SEARCH, Preparation for Work or Apprenticeship.

You will attend classroom sessions where you will complete portfolio work and go out to employers for on-the-job learning. You will be fully supported by your Tutor and Job Coach who will help you set and achieve your personal goals.

You will also attend English and Maths sessions to continue to develop these essential skills.

The programme will focus on developing your employability skills and ensuring you are confident about going into the workplace.

You will continue to develop your English and Maths and IT skills.

The aim of Get SET is to help you into employment or progress on to our Project SEARCH programme.

There are no formal entry qualifications required, but you must be motivated and have an aspiration to work.

You must be able to travel independently or willing to develop your travel skills.

You must be willing to work with employers and undertake a range of work-related tasks.

Your Tutor and Job Coach will monitor and record your progress in the classroom and in your placement and help you compile a portfolio of skills.

For English and maths, you may complete controlled assessments and/or external tests, depending on your level.
