Selby College is expanding its vocational offer with a range of new courses in Performing Arts, Hospitality & Catering, Sport & Public Services and Business.

Starting in September 2024, the new programmes will accommodate the demand for more learning opportunities in the district.

Covering a wide range of topics from acting to directing to production, the Performing and Production Arts (Acting) programme is perfect for those who thrive in creative, practical and stimulating learning environments.

Students will be taught by industry professionals and get the chance to perform in external performance venues.

After successfully welcoming its first cohort of Level 1 learners in September 2023, the College is now expanding its Level 1 offer to include programmes in Business, Sport & Public Services and Hospitality & Catering.

These year-long study programmes aim to introduce keen learners to their chosen subject. They will support students with their first steps and focus on enhancing their employability to prepare them for careers in industry.

The Level 1 Business course will give students an introduction to the world of business and develop their communication skills needed for working in the thriving sector.

Introduction to Sport & Public Services will keep the students active and engaged with fitness whilst going on trips and expeditions to boost their experience and prepare them for employment.

With the aim of developing beginner students’ culinary and hospitality skills, the Level 1 Hospitality & Catering programme will help prepare learners for careers in the industry through work placements where they will work with local employers in professional kitchens.

By expanding the College’s course offering each year, we are continually responding to the demands of our local communities. It’s imperative to us that our curriculum offer is embedded with employability skills and industry experience to ensure that our learners are equipped with the training, knowledge and passion to progress into their chosen careers.

Our growing Level 1 provision also ensures everyone has the chance to begin their learning journey with us, without the potential barriers of entry requirements – ensuring they can achieve their full potential.

Selby College currently offers study programmes from Level 1 all the way through to Level 6 (degree-level)– giving students a broad choice of progression routes within the College. The ever-evolving provision shows the College’s commitment to providing high quality education that is inclusive to all and meets the needs of its communities.
