Welcome to the Education Department

Are you considering pursuing a career in teaching? You are not alone - every year, many people decide to turn their existing profession and skills into a career in teaching.

If so, our teacher training qualifications could be the perfect option!

In-Service Certificate/Professional and Post-Graduate Certificate in Education

Awarded by the University of Huddersfield, our qualifications in Education (Lifelong Learning) and our Bachelor or Bachelors (Hons) in Education and Professional Development help learners develop the knowledge, skills and experience needed to successfully pursue a teaching career.

The flexibility of the course also means it can be carried out during evening sessions, meaning it can fit around your existing profession or other commitments.

How we can support your teacher training

We provide a supportive and friendly environment, ensuring you are able to develop the necessary skills to become an outstanding teacher.

You'll have the opportunity to gain experience of learning and teaching alongside other professionals with support from tutors and mentors. We will also help you to secure teaching placements, including across our three campuses in Castleford, Selby and Wakefield.

We also have extensive IT facilities and a well-stocked Learning Resource Centre with relevant texts, journals and e-resources which can be accessed on site and remotely. Learners will also have access to useful resources from the University of Huddersfield.
