Level 3 Advanced Carpentry and Joinery Apprentice

Why did you choose to do an Apprenticeship?

After working in the motor trade industry for 16 years, I wanted to retrain and have a more long-term trade behind me. I heard about the Apprenticeship scheme at Selby College and took the opportunity to enrol on one.

How are you finding your Apprenticeship?

My Apprenticeship has been great so far and I’m enjoying learning new things. My tutor Shaun has been a great help and has always been there if I am struggling with anything.

What are your future goals?

I am currently undertaking my Level 3 Advanced Carpentry and Joinery Apprenticeship at the College. Once I have completed this, I consider becoming a self-employed joiner or look to gain more qualifications so that I can broaden my managerial experience within the construction industry.

Any advice that you would give to someone wanting to change careers?

I always say to everyone, it's never too late to change career. Do something that you enjoy and follow your dream of a trade or job.
