BSc (Hons) Top-Up in Applied Computing

Tell us about your time at Selby College?

I started at the College on a Level 2 Information and Creative Technology course, before progressing on to the Extended Diploma in Information Technology. I then chose to carry out my degree-level studies at the College, starting with the Higher National Diploma (HND) in Computing, and moving on to the BSc (Hons) Top-Up in Applied Computing which I’m currently studying. My time at Selby College has allowed me to explore my creative side and discover my passion of character 3D modelling.

What do you enjoy about your current course?

There are so many different avenues which you can go down with the course, whether that’s web design or networking. I initially wanted to explore the technology side of the course, but now I enjoy the creative and artistic side more. I particularly enjoyed the 3D modelling module as character 3D modelling is my biggest passion and enjoy working with photoshop and 3D modelling software.

What career path do you want to pursue?

I’m currently working self-employed as a 3D modeller and designer and enjoy being able to bring characters to life digitally and to create custom pieces for clients. So far, I have made small-scale client commissions in both 3D and photoshop. I was commissioned to make a custom character for a DJ in Los Angeles called 2TONEDISCO,who used it within his Virtual Reality shows, which was pretty cool.

What's next for you?

I hope to grow my character 3D modelling business to a bigger scale. I want to do this by creating a range of famous 3D characters which people can purchase on my website, as well as merchandise. I also want to go travelling to Canada and America.
