Bursary at Selby College
For some students aged 16-19 from households with a gross income of less than £27,500 per annum, your son or daughter will be eligible for a Bursary, which means they will be able to travel to college free of charge. The Bursary also provides assistance with meals, necessary equipment and trips.
Students who are granted Free Meals will be issued with lunch vouchers worth £3.50 per meal. These can be used in the college Refectory or Coffee Shop to purchase one lunch between 11am and 2pm each day they attend college. If they choose to spend more than £3.50 they must pay the difference.
Students eligible for bursary on placement/work experience will be paid a cash amount of £3.50 per day to buy lunch. Students may also be issued with breakfast vouchers if sufficient funds are available. Students who are granted travel assistance on college buses will be issued with a travel voucher, a Smartcard or a termly bus pass, dependent on which bus they are travelling on. Other bursary payments e.g. for equipment or visits are made on a case by case basis.
