Hello and welcome to our latest edition of Engage. This edition comes as we celebrate two years of the Heart of Yorkshire Education Group, and it’s fantastic to see how far we’ve come as an organisation.

Following National Apprenticeship Week 2024, this edition looks back on our activities throughout the week and celebrates our apprentices and employer partners. Hear from our apprentices about how they're benefitting from the hands-on nature of their apprenticeships, as well as from our Director of Apprenticeships about how an apprentice can boost your business.

Issue five - Skills Edition of Engage December 2023

Welcome to the Skills edition of our Employers newsletter, Engage. Following a full Ofsted inspection in October 2023, we’re thrilled to announce that the Group has been praised by Ofsted for its ‘Strong’ contribution to meeting regional and national skills needs, with the Group receiving a ‘Good’ grade for every aspect and overall.

The recent introduction of the skills rating into Ofsted’s inspection framework was a welcomed challenge for colleagues across the Group, as we feel passionately about helping to develop the skills strategy for the region and beyond. To have received a ‘Strong’ rating in this area is a testament to the collaborative relationships
our staff have built with a range of stakeholders, and how we embed this into everything that we do.

We are celebrating some of these partnerships in this edition and how we are working collaboratively to ensure our learners develop the skills and knowledge they need to successfully progress into a range of industries and into prosperous careers.

Engage Issue Four - Global Entrepreneurship Week

There’s been lots of fantastic things happening across the Heart of Yorkshire Education Group since our last edition of Engage. We started the academic year on a high, welcoming thousands of students of all ages and levels to start or continue their academic journey with us.

Engage Issue Three - Sustainability Edition

There’s lots to shout about in this edition of Engage, as we host our first sustainability week across our three Colleges. Sustainability is high on our agenda at the Heart of Yorkshire Education Group and that is why we are evolving our curriculum in line with the development of green skills for green jobs.

We’ve made great strides since Selby College officially merged with Wakefield College on 1st March 2022, and I’m excited to update you on all the fantastic things we’ve been working on across the Group in this newsletter.
