T Level Building Services Engineering for Construction- Electrotechnical Engineering (Plumbing and Heating Installation)

This programme is aimed at learners aged 16-19-years old who wish to work within the Building Services Engineering Industry primarily around Plumbing and Heating Installations..

This two-year course has been developed in collaboration with employers and businesses so that the content meets the needs of industry and prepares learners for work.

Over the two years you will combine College-based studies along with a minimum of a 45-day industry placement.

The T level encompasses.
• The technical knowledge and practical skills required for the professional and technical role
• Maths, English and Digital skills required for the professional and technical role
• An industry placement of at least 45 days.

During this time, you will study a range of topics including core content that has been designed to give you a breadth of knowledge and skills for which you can apply in a variety of contexts related to the industry. Together with an employer-based project, the completion of this course will give you the opportunity to progress onto a Higher Education course, apprenticeship training or employment.

This T level programme includes learning that relates to the following UN Sustainable Development Goals.

You will develop knowledge and understanding of the following:

• Health and safety practices associated with carrying out plumbing and heating installations.
• Installation methods and plumbing and heating systems.
• Systems tools and products used in plumbing and heating engineering.
• Analysing and using information to and from plumbing and heating systems
• Removal processes as part of system decommissioning

Within this specialism you will also develop an understanding, skills and knowledge around: -
• The key stakeholders that may be involved with plumbing and heating system installation and maintenance.
• How plumbing and heating systems are checked and tested
• The different tasks, tools and materials used in plumbing and heating systems.

This specialist course will also allow you to enhance your broader skills in literacy and numeracy, develop transferable skills in communication (working with real colleagues, customers and clients) and undertake research and live project development work.

This qualification focuses on the development of knowledge and skills needed for working in the building services engineering industry, which will prepare you to enter the industry through employment or as an apprentice.

In addition, the completion of this qualification gives you the opportunity to progress onto Higher Education courses and training.

This Technical Qualification and the pathways offered at the College is intended for students who want to progress to a career in the construction sector, with a focus on Building Services-Plumbing and Heating.

5 GCSEs grades 9 – 6 including English, Maths and Science.

You will be assessed by two externally set exams covering knowledge from the building services engineering common core components with an employer set project

In year 2, you will complete an Occupational Specialism Assignment: The duration of the assessment is 41 hours and you will be assessed against the following themes:

• Health and safety
• Design and planning
• Systems and components
• Inspect and test systems and components.
• Report and information
• Handover and communication
• Working with faults
