Paediatric First Aid

This course is designed for individuals who need to provide immediate first aid for infants and children. The course is suitable for Early Years practitioners, childminders and parents and meets the requirement for Ofsted for the Early Years Foundation Stage Standards and the National Childminding Association.

  • Scene Safety
  • CPR Infant, Child and Adult
  • Choking Infant, Child and Adult
  • Shock Management and Severe Bleeding
  • Signs and Symptoms
  • Breathing and Circulatory
  • Simple Record Keeping and Reporting Procedures

After 3 years, learners may want to refresh their certificate.. This course allows learners to gain the competence of first aid in the workplace, meaning they can provide immediate first aid for infants and children (the course is also suitable for parents).

Although there are no formal entry requirements for this course, you must be aged 16 or above to attend.

All attendees are required to provide photographic identification, failure to do so prior to the start of the course will result in you not being able to sit the course.

Candidates attend a 2 day training programme which is held throughout the year at Selby college or for a minimum of 6 people can be delivered at your premises at dates and times to suit you. Each candidate must undertake a practical assessment and multiple choice exam on the final day of the course. The certificate is valid for three years. Assessment includes: ITA, case studies, oral questioning, written question and answer test/exam, practical demonstration and group discussion.
