NVQ Diploma, Level 2

Hairdressing

This qualification is the progression from successful completion of the Level 2 VRQ Diploma in Hairdressing and is the ‘job ready’ qualification required to work in the Hairdressing industry.

You must complete a range of assessments on paying clients within set times on the following practical activities:

• Client Consultation

• Developing your effectiveness at work

• Shampooing and Conditioning

• Cutting Women’s Hair

• Colouring

• Blow Drying Hair

• Setting

• Cutting Men’s Hairstyles

The salon operates on a commercial basis and mirrors the industry; therefore, you will be assessed not only in aspects of Hairdressing, but also on punctuality and reliability.

You will also be expected to complete one weeks’ work experience in a salon. This may involve travelling some distance and working late evenings where necessary (subject to Covid-19 restrictions).

On successful completion, you may choose to progress on to the Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Hairdressing, subject to the successful completion of this qualification, evidence of progression in English and Maths, a successful interview and reference. Many students also choose an Apprenticeship to earn whilst they learn and continue their studies.
