Diploma/Extended Diploma, Level 2

Health & Social Care

This broad-based course allows you to develop the knowledge and skills needed for practical work in health care or early years. It is particularly suitable if you are interested in working in the Health Service, but are perhaps undecided as to what specific area.

You will study a number of areas, including:

  • Human Growth and Development
  • Working in Health & Social Care
  • Communication in Health & Social Care

You will also be expected to attend work placement for which you must be prepared to travel.

An enhanced DBS check will be carried out on your suitability to work with children which you will be required to pay for, currently £44.00 (price subject to change).

Many of our students progress onto the NCFE CACHE Level 3 Technical Extended Diploma in Health & Social Care, or the NCFE CACHE Level 3 Technical Diploma in Childcare and Education at Selby College.

Standard Level 2 entry requirements apply - the minimum requirement is at least four GCSEs at Grade 3, one of which will be in English or Maths. Neither English nor Maths will be below Grade 2. At least 2 GCSE subjects at Grade 3 are required alongside GCSE equivalent qualifications. For this course you must have a GCSE Grade 3 or above in Science. Please note: If you have not achieved a Grade 4 or above in GCSE English and/or Maths you will be required to continue studying these alongside your college course.
