The Selby College Aspire Hairdressing and Beauty Therapy Department is renowned as a high-quality training establishment for people wishing to work in the industry.
It should be noted that there is a large amount of science involved in this course, in addition to which you will study:
• Health and Safety
• Customer Care
• Team Building
• Facials
• Make-up
You will be taught in our state-of-the-art salon, which is open to the general public and mirrors the industry; you will therefore be assessed not only in aspects of Beauty Therapy but also on professionalism, punctuality and reliability.
You will also be expected to complete one week’s work experience in a salon. This may involve travelling some distance and working late evenings where necessary.
On successful completion, you may choose to progress on to the Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Spa Therapy, subject to the successful completion of this qualification, evidence of progression in English and Maths, a successful interview and reference. Many students also choose an Apprenticeship to earn whilst they learn and continue their studies.

Standard Level 2 entry requirements apply - the minimum requirement is at least four GCSEs at Grade 3, one of which will be in English or Maths. Neither English nor Maths will be below Grade 2. At least two GCSE subjects at Grade 3 are required alongside GCSE equivalent qualifications.
Please note: If you have not achieved a Grade 4 or above in GCSE English and/or Maths you will be required to continue studying these alongside your college course.
