Gordon McAlpine is a member of both the Curriculum and Quality and Audit Committees at Selby College. In addition to this, he is Chair of the Remuneration Committee.

He is also the Governor lead for Careers Education, Information and Guidance.

Gordon gained hands on experience of Further Education over a period of 27 Years as both a Lecturer and Senior Manager and prior to his retirement in 2001, he had overall responsibility for Student Services and Marketing at Beverley College, now East Riding College.

Following his formal retirement he put his extensive experience to good use as a self-employed Education and Training Consultant working on a variety of national and local Government education based projects plus Staff Development initiatives based primarily in the North East of England.

He and his wife live near Pocklington and any spare time they have is spent sharing grandparent duties with their five lively grandchildren.
