Selby College wins Silver Award for BTEC College of the Year 2019

Selby College has been awarded a Silver Award in the BTEC Awards category for ‘BTEC College of the Year 2019’ in recognition of its outstanding dedication and commitment in providing BTEC subjects.

The BTEC Awards recognise outstanding dedication to BTEC sectors and learning. The College currently offers BTEC courses in Business, Construction, Health & Social Care, Information Technology & Computing, Law, Public Services, Science, Sport and Travel & Tourism.

The BTEC (Business and Technology Education Council) Level 3 Extended Diploma is a Further Education vocational qualification taken in the UK. The qualification, which is organised and awarded by Pearson, is equivalent to A Levels.

Selby College Quality Manager Shelley Bratton said: “This Silver Award represents the hard work and commitment from all of our BTEC teams to ensure that our students have a positive and successful experience on their Vocational course here at Selby College.”

In total, 23 colleges entered the ‘College of the Year’ category, including some international colleges. 16 went through to Stage Two, with six institutions eventually awarded Silver and one Gold.

The College has been recognised by Pearson for achieving excellent grades, demonstrating a clear passion for the subjects, providing examples of high achievement and going ‘above and beyond’ in its commitment to extra-curricular activity.

Speaking of the standard of the entries, President of UK Pearson, Rod Bristow said: “The passion and commitment from this year’s nominees has been incredible, so thank you for being a part of the BTEC Awards 2019.”

The Silver BTEC Awards were introduced for the first time this year to recognise and encourage nominees who made it through to the finals by demonstrating outstanding achievements and commitment through their BTEC studies which are worthy of celebration.
