Following on from an active Students’ Union for many years, we have recently introduced a Student Council. Each curriculum area of the College is represented and allows students a great opportunity to get involved in College matters. There is also the chance to become a Student Governor.
Meet our Higher Education Student Governor Will Matthews
After studying the BTEC Level 3 in Computing at the College, Will is now carrying out a BSc (Hons) Applied Computing (Top-Up) course at Selby College. Will took on the role as the Higher Education Student Governor to represent the students at Selby College. The role has given him a new insight into the ‘behind the scenes’ of how Selby College is run and has given him a platform to express student concerns and feedback to the Board of Governors. Matthew also sits on the Curriculum & Quality Committee to further express how the education of Selby College can be improved, but also what needs to stay the same to ensure seamless transitions and consistency in education.
