You will also have the opportunity to gain experience in a range of Health and Social Care environments in order to relate theory to practice and explore career options. This will be through a variety of placements and you will be expected to travel to these placements. An enhanced DBS check will be carried out on your suitability to work with children which you will be required to pay for, currently £44.00 (price subject to change).
Many of our students progress onto the Foundation Degree in Early Childhood Studies or a BA (Hons) in Early Childhood Education and Care (Top Up) at Selby College or apply for university.
Potential Careers
Standard Level 3 vocational entry requirements apply. The minimum requirement is at least five GCSEs at Grade 4. At least one of Maths or English Language must be Grade 4 and neither lower than Grade 3. For this course you must have a GCSE Grade 4 or above in Science. If the subject applied for has been taken previously, then at least a Grade 4 at GCSE or Merit at BTEC or OCR Level 2 is required. Please note: If you have not achieved a Grade 4 or above in GCSE English or Maths you will be required to continue studying these alongside your college course.
