Health & Social Care

This Health and Social Care study programmes provide the knowledge needed when working in a health and social care environments, caring for young people, adults, and the elderly.

The programme covers a wide range of areas including; supporting individuals with their physical and emotional care, daily living needs and health care procedures.


Level 2 learners will have placement experience in either care homes, charity organisations or day care settings, when tutors consider that learners are placement ready and can work professionally.

Please Note: Work placement opportunities will be available at all levels.

On completion with the appropriate pass and English and maths grades you can progress through the levels.

Potential Careers

  • This study programme may support progression into a wide range of job roles in the health and social care sector, including:
    Care Support Workers in residential settings, Healthcare Assistants in Community, Primary Care and Acute Health Environments, Care Support Workers in Domiciliary Services, Care within Supported Living or Day Services Community-Based Support Workers, Nursing Associate roles and apprenticeship roles in dental nursing, pharmacy and social work.

4 GCSEs at grade 9-3, one will be either English or maths.

You will be assessed by a range of methods including oral questioning, portfolio building, posters, written assignments and practical tasks.
