Bricklaying

Developed in response to the industry’s request for broader training to improve skills, you will learn about building construction, block work and brickwork skills, as well as how and why building components are constructed. You will gain the underpinning knowledge and skills for a career in the industry. The college has close links to construction companies and has a work placement programme and construction projects where students get the opportunity to experience commercial construction work conditions.

Many of our students progress onto the Apprentice Level 2 NVQ, or Bricklaying Level 3 Diploma / NVQ, or BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Construction and the Built Environment (providing you have achieved Grade 4 or above in GCSE Maths and English).

Standard Level 2 entry requirements apply – Four GCSE passes at Grade 3, one of which will be in English or Maths. You may also have a Level 1 Diploma in Basic Construction Skills. A basic understanding and experience of Bricklaying or the construction industry and an interest in learning about working in the construction industry.

50% coursework - Practical Exam x 4. 25% - Theory Exam x 7/8 25% Exam
