I am thrilled to be a governor at Selby College, having worked with the College during my Mayorship in 2019/20. In this time, I saw some of the excellent work done by the College and it’s staff and students and had the chance to share some moments that were certainly memorable for me.
I am originally from Louth, in Lincolnshire and first moved to Yorkshire in 2010 to complete my Masters degree in History at York. I have since worked in jobs ranging from retail, call centre work and complaints, although my initial ambition was to further my studies towards academia. I currently work for Capita on behalf of the Lloyds Banking Group in Leeds.
Outside of my working hours I like to play badminton, squash, pool and I enjoy music, although I cannot play very well. While I am naturally shy and reserved, I try to involve myself in my community and help those who need it where I can.
Young adulthood is an exciting and important period of a person’s life and many of the foundations for the future are set at this stage. I am happy to be a small part of an institution that is integral to the lives of people experiencing this.
