It’s incredibly rewarding for both staff and students to see how students have developed both personally and academically throughout the academic year, so our Annual Sports Awards have always been a popular celebration. We added new awards this year to mark our 10th anniversary hosting the ceremony, ensuring that our students’ achievements across our Sport and Public Service programmes were acknowledged, from Further Education to Higher Education. For some students, the Sport Awards are their last chance to spend time with their classmates and tutors before they progress onto their next steps, with a number of students already securing positive destinations including the Fire Service, The Army and onto university to study Sport.
Alongside the awards presentation, students enjoyed a two-course meal and a DJ set to finish the evening.
Selby College offers a range of courses in Sport and Public Services at a variety of levels which aim to equip students with the skills and knowledge to progress onto a range of careers in both sectors.
This includes a brand-new Level 1 Introduction to Sport & Public Services programme, which starts in September 2024. The course provides a variety of engaging lessons such as playing sport, keeping active and taking part in fitness testing, offering a pathway for students to progress on to Level 2 Sport and Public Service courses upon completion.
