Entry to Employment
Are you aged 16-18, left school and want to move on but don’t know how? Entry to Employment (E2E) could be right up your street.
E2E will: -
- Develop your skills, your understanding and the qualities you need for work
- Provide help for you with your English, Maths and Computer Skills
- Help you gain qualifications
- Give you work experience
- Help you find a job or a course you want to study
and what’s more, give you allowances for training and cover your childcare costs.
At Selby College, our aim is to help you move forward. You’ll be respected as an individual, that is why we have developed our programme around you. E2E isn’t just a scheme or a course, it is a range of options that will help you find the career you want and give you the skills you need to achieve it.
You will undertake learning in three independent core areas:
01. Skills for Life and Key Skillsaims to help develop your English, Maths and Computer Skills. You will work at your own pace, with the rest of the E2E group and through one-to-one support with a Skills for Life Tutor, to help you develop your knowledge and achieve recognised qualifications.
02. Vocational Developmentwill help you overcome some of the hurdles you might have already experienced finding a job, an apprenticeship or a course that really suits you. We’ll help you develop your skills in CV writing, applying for jobs and interview techniques. You will be able to try 1 day taster courses within the college as well as undertake a 2 week work experience placement, just to make sure you are making the right choice. When you feel ready to trial work you will be able to choose from a range of National Vocational Qualifications (NVQ) Level 1 Apprenticeship Courses.
03. Personal and Social Developmentwill help you develop your knowledge and understanding in a variety of different subjects, which affect us all in our daily lives. Examples include team building, communicating, sport, arts and crafts as well as addressing issues that may or may not affect you personally, such as drug and alcohol awareness, crime and attitudes of others. Although E2E is not time bound, it is based on your needs.
You may need relatively short periods of time to prepare for entry to an Apprenticeship, employment or further job opportunities. If you have other personal and social needs you may require much longer periods before you are ready to enter the training and employment parts of the programme.
Your attendance will be for a minimum of 16 hours per week, but the actual number of hours will depend on your learning capacity, aims, needs and what you would like to progress to do.
