Personal and Social Problems

Guidance and Support Tutors and Personal Counselling

All full-time students are allocated a Guidance and Support Tutor (GST).  This member of staff oversees your progress and attendance at college and is the first person you can turn to if you require any help or advice.  Tutor groups meet on a weekly basis and cover a range of topics including personal development, study skills and careers education and guidance.  You will also meet individually with your Guidance and Support tutor on a regular basis to review your progress.

Your Guidance and Support Tutor can also help you with any personal or social problems you may experience.  Your GST has access to a vast range of information and can advise you on any support that may be available.

The College also has a Personal Counsellor who is available to all students to help with personal problems that may be affecting your ability to study.  Counselling gives you the opportunity to talk in privacy and confidence about any issue of concern.  Appointments can be made through Guidance and Support Tutors or Student Services.

We aim to ensure that you have every opportunity to complete your programme successfully.
