Financial Advice and Assistance

Adult Learning Grant (ALG)

If you are aged 19+, you may be eligible for an Adult Learning Grant (ALG).

An Adult Learning Grant (ALG) is intended to help adults studying full time with the costs of learning.  The grant pays up to £30 per week (subject to financial assessment) for full-time learners aged 19+ who are studying for their first full Level 2 or first full Level 3 qualification.

ALG financial assessment is based on the income of the learner and the income of any cohabiting partner; it does not include parental income for those learners who live with their parents.  Learners who are in receipt of income-based benefits may be eligible for ALG; please contact Student Services for advice.
Further information on Adult Learning Grant can be found on the ALG website www.direct.gov.uk/ALG, or contact Student Services             tel: 01757 211040.
