Facilities
Selby College boasts some of the most up to date facilities of any college in Western Europe. The campus is located on the southern edge of Selby Town Centre on our own state -of-the-art, 19 acre site.
The college campus has, over the past seven years, been substantially redeveloped, starting in 2003 with the building of the £4m Sixth Form Academy building, which was quickly followed by the £2.5m Renaissance building. In August 2008, the college learned they had won their £27m capital bid to complete the remainder of the campus redevelopment. Work began in October 2008 to build the first of the new facilities - a massive new hub building named the Jubilee building, which opened for the first time to students in January 2010.
This will shortly be followed by the opening of a new extension to the Renaissance Building and a specialist Construction and Engineering building in the Autumn 2010. The college is also in the process of having a £1.5m 3rd Generation Sports Pitch and Changing Room facility built on the site, that will allow eleven a side or three 6-a side football games to be played in all weathers and at night, with the new pitch being fully floodlit. It is expected the new pitch will be available from January 2010.
The state-of-the-art Jubilee building incorporates more subject specific teaching rooms (equipped with the very latest whiteboards, visual and ICT technologies), a new Reception area, Refectory Teaching Kitchen, Restaurant and our new Aspire Hair & Beauty Salon. The two storey building also provides Science laboratories, recreational sports facilities and more social facilities for students.
