The Best Companies Award is given to organisations, via a confidential survey, and asks how good the company is to work for. Key aspects of the survey included the college’s leadership, management performance, team working and how fairly it treated employees.
Every organisation that enters Best Companies Accreditation is given a Best Companies Index (BCI) score. This score (on a scale of 1 to 1,000) is defined from employee’s responses to the 54 questions with the Best Companies employee survey. Selby College first achieved the one star First Class organisation to work for status in the 2009 Awards.
Selby College was the first and only College in Yorkshire to achieve the award in 2009 and still remains one of the only FE Colleges to hold the award in the United Kingdom, in 2010.
