Students at top-performing Selby College have achieved some of the highest ‘A’ Level results in the country, achieving an amazing 99.1% overall pass rate.
Allan Stewart OBE, Principal said: "I am absolutely delighted with our students' success, which should enable them to get into the university of their choice."
In all students on 24 out of 26 subjects offered at Selby College scored an overall pass rate of 100%.
When asked why Selby College students continue to achieve higher grades than students at other colleges, Allan Stewart added: "Selby College's formula for student success is a combination of three factors.
"Firstly, we have some of the highest Ofsted-rated and dedicated teachers and support staff of any college in England. Secondly, we have some of the most amazing learning facilities available for students to study, and thirdly, we have a culture of encouraging our students to fulfil their potential, ensuring they get the very best from their education."
Vernon Wells, Chair of Governors, of top-performing Selby College, said: "I congratulate our 'A' Level students, who have worked so diligently to attain such an excellent set of grades. These results will enable them to confidently embark on whatever they have chosen to do next, whether it is going to university, continuing their studies at college or looking for employment in a career of their choosing.
"I would also like to thank the staff at the college, who continue to strive for excellence, these results are a credit to their endeavours providing Selby and the surrounding district with one of the highest performing colleges in England."
Some of this year's top 'A' Level students at the award-winning college were:
Hannah Roddie, from Selby, achieved an impressive haul of four 'A' Levels, including two of the much coveted new A* grades in Biology and Geography and 2 A's in Chemistry and Mathematics. Hannah, who will now go on to study Biology at Sheffield University, put her achievement down to the support she'd received during her time at the college, she said; " The staff at Selby College have made such a difference to me, they couldn't do enough to help me succeed."
Hannah will be joined at Sheffield University by her distant cousin Grace Roddie who secured three A grades in English Language, Law and History and will now go on to study Law. Grace said; "I can't believe we've both done so well."
Luke Swithenbank, from Selby, achieved an outstanding three grade A's in Biology, Mathematics and Chemistry, as well as one of the sought after A* grades in History. Luke who hopes to work in the medical profession and is now going on to study Medicine at Leeds University said; "I've really enjoyed my time at the college, I've made some great friends and I'd like to say a big thank you to all of the staff who helped and supported me through my time at Selby College."
Lizzie Middleton, from Selby, achieved an A* in History, 2 As in German and Mathematics and a B in English Literature. Lizzie, who described her time at Selby College as "the best years of my life", has secured a place at Nottingham University to study History and Politics. She said; "The tutors have all been really supportive and I've made a lot of good friends at Selby College all of whom have helped me enormously."
Hayton Tang, from Brayton, who achieved an A* in Psychology and two As in English Language and Law, said she was really pleased with her results. Hayton will now go on to study Law and Lancaster University and hopes to become a solicitor.
Sean Hobson, from West Cowick, said he was "speechless" at receiving 2 As and 2 Bs. Sean, who is heading to Bangor University to study Marine Science, said; "Selby College has been brilliant! It's been such a positive experience for me and really helped build my confidence."
He continued; "I've made loads of new friends and the staff have been so supportive, they've really helped me build on both my strengths and weaknesses. It's been a real eye opener for me, I never imagined I could achieve these sort of grades and it gives me more confidence going on to university."
Ann-Marie McManaman, from Selby, is aiming high. After achieving three grade As in 'A' Level English Language, English Literature and Religious Studies Ann-Marie has secured a place at prestigious Cambridge University to study English Literature. She said; "Selby College has been an amazing experience, the tutors have all been so supportive and have really helped me achieve these grades."
Ten-pin Bowling ace Kirsten MacGregor, achieved an A* in Psychology, a B in Chemistry and a C in Biology, to secure a place at the Anglo European College of Chiropractic in Bournemouth. Kirsten, who is currently vying for a place in the England under 24 squad and has vowed to continue bowling throughout her university career, said she was "over the moon" with her results.

1. Selby College was the first college in Yorkshire and the Humber and at the time only the thirteenth college in the country to be awarded by Ofsted a complete set of five outstanding grades.
2. In 2009, as a result of the college's continuing high student exam result performance Selby College became the eighth highest performing Further Education College in England.
3. As far as the college is aware, the overall high student 'A' Level score in 2010 of 99.1% is one of the highest overall scores of any Further Education College.
4. Selby College's reputation for student success is seen as a major contributing factor as to why the college has seen record full time student recruitment this year, with over 1,200 full time students recruited, which exceeds all previous enrolment figures in the organisation's 26 year history.
