Selby College has an active and exciting approach to equality and diversity, witnessed on a daily basis, through the curriculum and the Equality & Diversity Steering Group chaired by Allan Stewart - Principal and comprises of key stakeholders including staff, the nominated Student Union and Staff Governor for Equality and Diversity and external community groups.
Selby College has a comprehensive Single Equality Scheme, Equality and Diversity Policy and Equality Impact Assessment framework. Diversity is celebrated on a regular basis throughout the College.
Selby College is committed to diversity and equality of opportunity. The aim is to create an environment in which people treat each other with mutual respect, regardless of age, disability, family responsibility, marital status, race, colour, ethnicity, nationality, religion or belief, gender, gender identity, transgender, sexual orientation, trade union activity, unrelated criminal convictions or any other type of discrimination.
To support the above only Selby College's application forms are accepted for vacancies at the College. The application form is in two parts. The first part being the Personal Details page, which is discarded for shortlisting purposes, to ensure a blind shortlisting process takes place. The second part of the application is used for shortlisting. This contains no personal details or cultural background information.
Since 1991 the Building Regulations have required that new buildings are provided with suitable access to and into the building, and that there are suitable facilities within the building.
