At Selby College we realise that education is more than just studying, it's also about making new friends, the place and the social life. That's why we go to great lengths to combine quality learning and success with a variety of amazing enrichment activities.
We organise a variety of trips including Alton Towers, Blackpool Pleasure Beach, Lightwater Valley, The Clothes Show, London, the theatre, cinema and many more.
Each year students also take part in a number of trips abroad, these have included visits to Barcelona, Munich, Krakow, Berlin, Torremolinos and Disneyland Paris.
If you play an instrument, sing, dance or act, we have a number of performance groups for you to get involved in.
This award is available to those students who wish to participate in the Gold Award.
At Selby College we want you to be the best at whatever you do and that includes sport which is why we've set up a Golf Academy, in conjunction with Selby Golf Club, and a Football Development Centre, for both male and female students.
Students receive expert tuition from fully qualified, highly-skilled sports coaches and will be expected to take part in a number of competitions throughout the year.
Each academy has been designed to provide a specialist programme which runs alongside students' main academic subjects enabling those with a passion for the sport to develop their skills. It does not provide an overall qualification in either Football or Golf.
We also offer a range of intercollege leagues including Badminton, Hockey, Golf, Football, Basketball, Cricket and Volleyball, as well as Rugby coaching.
Please Note: Membership of either academy is subject to students being released from their studies. If you are applying for an 'A' Level programme and want to join the Football Development Centre please check with Student Services beforehand. Football Development Centre males and females train separately.
Selby College values your opinions. We have an active Students' Union which meets regularly to discuss college issues and represents the student body on a number of committees including the Board of Governors, the Equality and Diversity committee and the Health and Safety committee.
The Students' Union also arranges a number of events and activities as well as trips.
Plus, you can make your voice heard through the Student Council.
All students can purchase the NUS Extra card, this will give you a wide range of discounts in shops, restaurants, cinema etc. If you're not sure whether your favourite shop offers student discount - just ask!
